9 Makeup Tips for a Natural Glow

Admit it or not, everybody wants to look natural and beautiful. However, getting a natural look with makeup is not easy.

If you apply too much makeup product, you look as though you’ve overdone it; if you apply too little, then what’s the point of putting on makeup at all?

Nonetheless, I am here to help you and I have the solution for this issue. Over the years I have tried and tested (and watched far too many YouTube videos) and have come up with a foolproof guide to getting that desirable natural skin.

Alright, so take out your makeup kit and let the magic begin!

Makeup Tips for a Natural Glow

Do you want to look natural? Below are some simple makeup tips for glowing skin.

9. Start With a Clear Skin

First things first—there is no way to build a masterpiece on dirty skin. That is why, before even thinking about using makeup products, make certain that your skin is as clean as possible.

I always begin my morning by washing my face with a mild cleanser to remove all dirt and oil I might have on my face when I wake up.

After washing, do not leave your skin dry, apply moisturizers!’ However, if you are struggling with oily skin issues (I am a victim, too), this step is super important when aiming for the glow.

I would advise you to choose a product that is quickly absorbed – do not rush to spoil your skin with heavy oils, there are more important things to do.

8. Prime Time

Alright, I know you are going to take another step. But hear me out. A good primer, in my case, can be a total game-changer in helping you achieve that natural look.

It is recommended to choose one that has light-reflecting particles for that natural glowing skin. Bonus if it has skincare properties too!

Make sure you apply only a small amount of it. Pat it all over your face and focus on the T-zone area which usually fades makeup first.

This will ensure the makeup does not fade quickly and give you that radiant skin look you’re looking for.

7. Apply Less Foundation

Here is where many people make a mistake: they start applying a heavy foundation. However, if you are aiming for that all-natural look, then it pays to keep it as minimal as possible. The aim here is to create equality in the skin tone without ‘blacking out’ the face.

I prefer to use my fingers to blend foundation on the face starting from the middle part of my face outwards.

The heat generated from my hand warms the product and thus smoothens it on the skin for a better feel. If you require something more in some areas, just use a damp beauty sponge and layer it.

6. Conceal with Care

Pimples and dark spots are unavoidable even if you’re a celebrity. However, instead of applying concealer all over the face and neck, it is best to spot the areas that need it.

Choose a creamy concealer that matches your skin tone perfectly (pro tip: to feel its temperature do it on your jaw not your hand!!

Now, blend the concealer over any place you need to cover. Use your ring finger since it is the weakest and will apply lightly.

This helps avoid pulling the sensitive skin around the eyes thus avoiding damaging the skin.

5. Make Your Skin Shine

And here we come to the interesting part – let the skin shine!

The best thing about creams or liquids is that they give a natural-looking light. This you apply gently with your fingertips on your T-areas.

The key here is to mix, mix, mix! You can use your fingers or even a damp beauty sponge to blend the highlighter on the skin.

Of course, you want your face to shine bright.

4. Define Your Eyebrows

Eyebrows play a great role in making your facial look and do not underestimate its importance. However, it is not the filtered Instagram look that you should aim for in this case; more like the natural look.

It is recommended to use a brow pencil or powder of a shade that is lighter than the natural color of your brows.

If there are still holes, paint these lightly using the blend of soft feathery strokes. After that, comb through them and keep those stubborn hairs in place.

3. Make Sure Your Lashes Stand Out

If you want your lashes to look natural, then forget about the fake lashes and work on making the natural ones look even better.

First, curl your lashes (I would highly recommend a heated lash curler but if you do not have one, a normal one will do the job).

Then after that use a lengthening mascara on the upper lashes only as well. Hold the wand at the base of the lashes then swipe up and across in a zigzag motion to avoid clumping.

2. Make Your Lip Lovely

Lastly, the last feature we need to discuss is the lips. If you want to go for that natural look, then you have to make your lips as soft as they should be.

How can you do this? First, use a lip scrub or a soft toothbrush and brush your lips gently to remove all dead skin on the lips.

Next, paint it with a sheer gloss or lipstick color that would be close to your natural lip color.

Then wait for that magic!

1. Finish the Look

The last thing here is to set your makeup. I would advise you to apply a setting powder just before leaving the house. This will give you a long-lasting glow.

It’s best to concentrate on areas that are usually oily such as the T-zone, but don’t cake it on; we want to keep that natural glow going.
